Advanced Television Studies
The WPDS-TV14 Advanced Television Production Studies is designed to enhance the learning opportunities for high school students interested in pursuing a career in the field of television and video production.
During the summer of 2010, WPDS-TV14's Advanced Television Production Studies’ students produced their first music video called, 'School Rocks'. The music is provided by local rapper Corey Thorton of 'the Knuckleheadz. The video’s message is focused on decreasing the dropout rate in high schools. During the course of seven days of video taping at 14 different locations, the students experienced using a steadi-cam rig, camera jibs, a grip truck, a dolly and P2-HD digital cameras. The five minute video was edited by a recent graduate from Clearwater High, Neil O'Donoghue, on Final Cut. Our first day of video taping at Largo High involved a crew and talent pool of 52 people.
