Telly Awards
In 2007, WPDS-TV14 was internationally recognized, winning three Telly awards for the following local productions – Pinellas County Schools’ Salute to American Veterans, 2006 FBA Bandmasters Competition and the 40-part Teen Cuisine-Quick Bites series.

These productions were judged against more than 13,000 entries from some of the most respected production companies, television stations, cable operators and corporate/educational video production departments in the world. This was the 28th Annual Telly Awards competition, and the first time WPDS-TV14 won awards in this competition.

Communicator Award
In 2008, the International Academy of the Visual Arts announced that WPDS-TV14 had won the Award of Excellence in the category of children’s programming for The Nutcracker, performed by students of Pinellas Central Elementary. The 30-minute holiday classic, hosted by Susan Williams, incorporates wonderful storytelling, singing and dancing by the 5th-grade students of Pinellas Central. The holiday classic returns to WPDS-TV14 during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season.

Hermes Awards
In 2007, the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals awarded WPDS-TV14 the Hermes Creative Award for the 2007 Outstanding Educator program and the 2006 Bandmasters Marching Music Festival. These programs were judged against 3,500 entries from throughout the United States and several other countries. The Hermes Creative Award is an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional and emerging media.

Videographer Awards
The Videographer Awards is a 12-year-old independent international awards competition, designed to recognize excellence in video productions, TV commercials/news/programs and new media. Ch. 14 received the Award of Excellence for Digital Learning and the dress code video. Student Measures and the Outstanding Educator Awards program won Awards of Distinction. And, for the second consecutive year, WPDS-TV14’s weekly sports highlights program, Friday Night Hi-Lights, received an honorable mention.
