What Is WPDS - TV14
WPDS-TV14, Pinellas County Schools' television, is a low-power television station that is licensed to the school district by the Federal Communications Commission and appears on UHF Ch. 14, Bright House Networks Ch. 614, Knology Ch. 2. and Verizon Ch. 46. Original, student orientated, locally produced programming and instructional programs from various national sources appear on WPDS-TV14. The station provides programming on a 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week schedule to more than 900,000 homes in Pinellas County. WPDS-TV14 also provides Bright House Networks’ video-on-demand Ch. 343 with 30 hours of local programming. In 2009, WPDS-TV14 launched a new family of channels dedicated to teacher training, performing arts and Pinellas County Schools’ teens.
WPDS-TV14’s broadcast schedule is anchored by solid educational and entertainment programming designed to provide an alternative to regular network television. Locally produced, award-winning franchise programs include PCS Journal, Friday Night Hi-Lights, Digital Learning and Student Measures. Special performing arts and academic competitions highlight the broadcast schedule.
Students of all ages have a special time to enjoy WPDS-TV14’s educational programming during Lunchtime Jam! and the WPDS-TV14 Science Zone.
WPDS-TV14 airs each Pinellas County School Board for two weeks following the meeting date on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 6 p.m., Fridays at midnight and Saturdays at 8 a.m. Special meetings, press conferences and emergency broadcasts also appear on WPDS-TV14.
