Video Arts Scholarship Information

Eligibility Requirements
Work must be submitted on DVD to WPDS-TV14-Pinellas County Schools Television, located at 301 Fourth Street SW in Largo. The entry can be done either individually or collaboratively as a team. The team cannot exceed five students. All students must be a junior or senior currently enrolled in a public high school program within Pinellas County Schools. All team members are eligible for the Walker’s Video Arts scholarship. A total of $5,000 will be awarded for the winning entry to be split equally among the team members.

Content Requirements
All entries should be within a 3 to 5 minute time limit. Content theme is expected to align to one of the twelve Pinellas County Schools’ Commitments to Character traits: Respect, Responsibility, Cooperation, Citizenship, Kindness, Self-Motivation, Tolerance, Honesty, Self-Control, Caring, Courage, or Patriotism.
The type of video produced should conform to one of the following categories of the Florida Association for Media in Education-Jim Harbin Awards categories: Animation, Comedy, Documentary, Music Video or Public Service Announcement. The judging criteria have been derived from a compilation of Scholastic Arts, Jim Harbin and Emmy Award judging criteria.

Restrictions
All music must have copyright clearance in order to be considered. Failure to receive copyright permission will automatically disqualify the video from the scholarship awards competition.
